Cromm Cruaich

The Cromm Crúaich ("?Crooked Bloody Heap") is a mysterious stone idol that was decorated in gold and silver. When it existed in the mortal world, it was surrounded by 12 smaller stone and or bronze idols, possibly representing the Zodiac.
It remains unknown exactly what deity the Cromm Crúaich represented: it was erected soon after the Milesians vanquished the Tuatha Dé Danann. What is known about it is that the Cromm Crúaich was the center of a fertility cult where the Milesian nobility performed human sacrifice to ensure bountiful harvests. Irish Christians sing many obscenely lurid tales about the many, many human sacrifices made to this idol: it is said that the highking Tigernmas killed himself and three-fourths of his entire army in an orgy honoring the idol.
Saint Patrick personally destroyed the Cromm Crúaich. First, he shamed and frightened away the stone's druid protectors. Then he challenged the very spirit hiding within the idol, and exorcised it by striking the stone with his croizer. The idol, itself, tipped over and shattered, its gold and silver decorations instantly crumbling to dust. The 12 Zodiac stones, in turn, sank into the earth.
