Description

Inked draft of my video game world, now with major locations numbered and briefly described for your convenience...

Fullview to look for the numbers.
Unnumbered Version

1) Baneberry Township: A Hun port-town that does a lot of trading with Nemerian merchants. Baneberry also sees a lot of commerce from the lumber barons that run the township of Redberry, in the mountains to the west.

2) Redberry Township: Fortified town ruled by a family of Gigantes lumber barons. The citizens pride themselves as the self-declared "sister-city" of Baneberry, to the east. As the Gigantes lumberjacks slowly denude the mountain, the town elders have been contemplating opening mines.

3) Caer Beugn: The isolated fortress stronghold of 3 clans of Alphar. Its inhabitants raise their own poultry, as well as maintain underground gardens of giant, edible fungi. The Alphar of Caer Beugn pride themselves on their self-sufficient ways, to the point where they have boobytrapped the main pathways. Baneberry and Redberry take offense to Caer Beugn's refusal to trade, as well as the fact that the exiled or rebellious Alphar who leave the fortress inevitably become bandits that raid either townships.

4) Mount Damos: The Alphar "township" of "Damos-Berry" receives a great deal of trade from merchants and travelers. Diplomats and dignitaries are received in"Caer Damos." What is not mentioned to guests of the Damos Alphar is that Caer Damos proper is actually a huge network of tunnels carved inside of the mountain. These tunnels house the armory, treasury and barracks of one of the largest Alphar armies in the world. Recently, the tunnels have become infested with monstrous vermin that have resisted attempts to exterminate them.

5) Avida's Dales: A delightful community of dairy farms and cheese laboratories. Travelers come to this town from across the world for the luxury of paying ghastly exorbitant prices for a wheel of cheese.

6) Toventi Monastery: A monastery situated high atop a mountain. Local legend holds that the original builders were evil sorcerors, and their restless ghosts still stalk the halls. The current inhabitants are heroic monks who ensure that these angry spirits do not escape.

7) Shandala: A crowded city at the edge of the Emani Desert. It is built on top of a buried citadel. Many of the buildings are actually the tops of the citadel's towers.

8) Emani Desert: The Emani is infamous for its moving sand dunes and vicious heat. Travelers who do not succumb to either of these hazards often fall victim to the desert's many scorpions. The Emani Mountains in the north shield the desert from the bitter cold winds from Ogani Island.

9) Almadenah Alqatemah: Also known as "The Dim City," Almadenah Alqatemah is an ancient ziggurat built by the same creators of Shandala's buried citadel. Sealed inside of the Dim City are thousands upon thousands of angry undead, and restless demons that guard the ziggurat's fabled treasures.

10) Ogani Island: A cold and desolate island. Very few merchants bother to risk their lives crossing the ice-ladened waters. Those that do often allege that the furtraders of Ogani are actually werebeasts.

11) Beija Al Qimi: An abandoned city of ruins and rotting statuary. Its only inhabitants are Hun raiders, their hunting beasts, and numerous venomous lizards.

12) Beija Al Baz: When the builders of Beija Al Qimi abandoned the city, they fled south and founded Beija Al Baz. Now, though, its inhabitants have begun leaving this city, as well.

13) Beija Al Petra: A huge city that is the current home of Archbishop Astaroth. Many of the artisans of Beija Al Baz have come here, and are building Astaroth's cathedral as a monument to his piety.

14) Sharma Al Petra: The other half of Beija Al Petra. Even though numerous illicit activities carry on in Sharma, the profits of these underground industries ultimately fill Astaroth's coffers.

15) Bezam: Sometimes called the "Breadbasket of Petra." This city receives and processes thousands of pounds of grain grown in the farms surrounding it.

16) Secuna: A small village and lighthouse.

17) Sword Marsh: An almost impassable wetland. The reeds for which the marsh is named for have preternaturally sharp edges, and hide all sorts of vicious beasts.

18) Reaper's Maw: A dangerous canyon. Gold prospectors that brave its fierce rapids must also face the Soa, predatory, gargoyle-like lizards.

19) Majan: A sprawling town hidden within the Sword Marsh.

20) Reaper's Den: A seedy town filled with gamblers, prospectors and thieves that sits on the southern cliffs of Reaper's Maw. It's said that only the desperate and stupid willingly come to Reaper's Den.

21) Kahari River: A long and winding river that shares its headwaters with Reaper's Maw in Kahari Lake.

22) Lake Vajn: This small lake feeds into the Kahari River. The flowers and herbs that grow along its shores are prized by herbalists and alchemists.

23) Rotting Mountains: Deep within one of these mountains is the legendary Upside Down Fortress, the impenetrable fortress of the horrifying Green Empress.

24) Shabaz: A pitiful community of Daemon craftsmen enslaved by the Green Empress. Although they wish to be free, they are compelled to report any visitors to the Empress' minions.

25) Mobaz: Another community enslaved by the Green Empress, though its inhabitants are Hun. The Green Empress' minions extract a tithe of victims from the village.

26) Daga Elba: A muddy and foreboding marsh. It is heavily patrolled by the Green Empress' undead minions.

27) Kahari Hab: A weird city composed of four huge obelisks that overlook the mouth of the Kahari River.

28) Shuem Cavern: A long, winding, monster-infested cavern that leads to the top of Shuem Plateau.

29) Shuem Plateau

30) Shuem Albaz: A town of miners who profit from the mineral treasures of the Plateau.

31) Shuem Corfa: A town of scholars and druids who study the plateau. The citizens of Shuem Corfa often come into conflict with Shuem Albaz.

32) Nema Corfa: A desolate atoll that also serves as a pirate hideout.

33) Beija Al Haqana: A city of artisans founded by refugees from Beija Al Baz. They are forced to pay an annual tribute to the Green Empress.

34) Edselberg: A small hamlet set up by the Daemon to receive and host merchants and travelers.

35) Gefeltenberg: A small village that handles the farmlands of the Daemon.

36) Kristalberg: The capital and cultural stronghold of the Daemon. Outsiders are forbidden to enter without invitation.

37) Aragun: An island covered in rainforest. Is ostensibly the territory of the Nemerians, but, no sane people visit it.

38) Drakenfels: A series of islets that are said to be bones from the legendary monster slain to form the island of Nemeria. Unsurprisingly, they are infested with hordes of unpleasant creatures.

39) Nara Gosein: This forlorn island was once the breadbasket of Nemeria. The ranches and farmland are now overgrown with jungles, and much of the villages are abandoned, save for a few stubborn holdouts.

40) Debel Gosein: This barren island is said to be the skull of the legendary monster slain to form the island of Nemeria. It is home to numerous mines which help support the wealth of the Nemerians.

41) Nemeria Hespera: The business district of the Nemerian Empire.

42) Nemeria: Nemeria proper. The northern half contains slums and apartments, while the southern half houses numerous factory complexes.

43) Island of Thrones: The literal and figurative heart of the Nemerian Empire. Business executives and the Nemerian Counsel members live here.

44) Batagun: Another island abandoned by Nemerian farmers. Unlike Aragun, it is totally abandoned.

45) Sheb Gashun: The necropolis of a dead civilization. Some Hun and Nemerians brave the cursed tombs to retrieve the treasures hidden within.

46) Almostanqaa Almoshee: Today, the Radiant Marsh is a blasted salt pan. Long ago, it was once a vibrant wetland, and was the heart of a might empire. Because its inhabitants followed the Apokryltaros, the empire's own gods were slain, and its people abandoned the marsh and disappeared. The corpses of these rogue gods are the mountains in the Almostanqaa Almoshee's very center.

47) The Temple of the Apokryltaros: This unhallowed place is the final redoubt of the power of the Apokryltaros in this particular world. The Temple also serves as a doorway into the Apokryltaros' own realm.

48) Shami Ar: A desolate town of Hun and Gigantes stonecutters in the shadow of the volcano, Shami Arventi. They survive primarily by carving and hewing blocks of basalt to sell to the Nemerians.

49) Plains of Shami: A large stretch of grasslands that overlooks the Almostanqaa Almoshee. All manner of beasts and birds live here, attracting droves of hunters.

50) Shami Bey: A prosperous city made wealthy in the trade and taming of the various beasts of Shami.

51) Shami Mazama: A lake within a collapsed volcano. The island inside the lake is rumored to be home to a fabulous beast. Hundreds of hunters make a pilgrimage to Shami Mazama to find it: few return.

52) Borg Alsamt: The Tower of Silence, home of Zarasura the Silent.

53) Dagon's Graveyard: An island filled with the bones of all manner of monsters, demons and dragons.

54) River Shana: A long and winding river that flows across the eastern Plains of Shami. Its headwaters flow from Lake Shami.

55) Shami Dara: A town along the northern shore of Lake Shami. Most of the inhabitants are Gigantes and Hun, though they are ruled by the Alphar of Caer Eabneire

56) Caer Eabneire: The stronghold of a small clan of Alphar. Caer Eabneire derives almost its entire livelihood from tribute taken from Shami Dara.

57) Baega: A lonely village of furtraders. The locals also run a hotspring.

58) Shami Maz: A village of Gigantes hunters too smart to search for the beast of Shami Mazama.

59) Shom Gaega: An island filled with jungle-choked ruins.
