Description

Name: Thin-spined Tzuon, Arch-spined Tzuon
Species: Tzuon parabolacanthus (syn) T. leptacanthus
Notes: The Tzuons are a genus of freshwater acanthichthyids found throughout marshy and forest waterways of Avigonia. One and all, the tzuons feed on small arthropods and smaller fish. The thin-spined tzuon is found primarily in the Strixa river system, in central Avigonia.

Name: Toy Engine
Species: Holkogripeus nana
Notes: The Toy Engine is a benthic, detritivorous stephanacarid native to the Strixa river in Avigonia. It is a much smaller relative of the better known "Locomotive Bug."

Name: Gharialfish, Twisted Gharial
Species: Strepsigavialis maldormitor
Notes: Strepsigavialis malidormitor is one of the more insidious denizens of Avigonia. It grows to become a fairly large, 3 to 4 meter long strepsichthid found in the sluggish, weed-choked portions of Avigonia's rivers. Normally, they prey on fish which blunder into range, though, they do not hesitate to snap at unwary terrestrial animals which swim near. Very little is known about their larval stages. It is known that the larvae are swept downstream after the eggs hatch, and the small juveniles swim back upstream, from exactly where, or what they do while downstream, is currently unknown.
It's been suggested that Strepsigavialis is related to Diplopristus, on account of the similiarity of their long, thin jaws, but very little else about their anatomies and life histories support this hypothesis.

Name: Green Plate-tadpole
Species: Platygyrinos enchloros
Notes: A jawless detritivorous fish. A distant relative of the Flangefish.
