Description
Beede's Tadpole Shrimp, Triops beedei, from the Permian of Oklahoma.
Some creationists whine about how, because tadpole shrimp have remained relatively unchanged for 260 + million years, they refute Evolutionism (sic). Of course, these people don't bother to comprehend that natural selection can prevent (evolutionary) change just as easily as it can promote it. And if you live in an ecological niche that ruthlessly selects against any deviation from the norm, your species will remain relatively conservative, and there are few ecological niches more ruthlessly selective than those found within vernal pools.
And then there's the little problem of how these same vociferous whiners neglect to explain how the stasis of Triops negates all of the known examples of evolution, from antibiotic-resistant bacteria to brontotheres.

the tadpole shrimp had stayed all that time in the same ecological niche?
